Seal made easy!
Adhesive and sealant are in use for all self-builders and also occasional repairs while almost all work on the #Campervan and motorhome. It is an advantage here to have basic knowledge about seals to be used.
As in automotive engineering, gluing is now a standard process when installing motorhomes, it was felt "recently", which could not be riveted and vice versa. It is no longer just glued in the interior or towel holders, rather it is structural adhesions that associated chassis and structure with each other.
But what are the advantages of gluing instead of screwing? What special features must be observed before the insertion of roof hoods, windows and service flaps?
The advantages are in the hand by means of a cartridge, the assembly of a component or the repair in the adhesive process.
The boreholes and the associated material weakening are eliminated at this point. Corrosion is avoided and the risk of leaks is minimized.
In addition, the larger contact surface leads to a more uniform power distribution by gluing, and the mostly permanently elastic connection ensures higher vibration strength than that of a screw connection. In addition, component tolerances such as small bumps on the roof can be easily compensated for when installing a solar panel or a satellite system.
Example: roof hood, outer flap and windows
The installation of a roof hood, outer flap or a window is adhesive. Above all, the focus is on the focus, the focus is less on gluing. The components mentioned for installation or cultivation are used and screwed with permanent plastic sealing compound.
Due to the process of gluing, adhesion and cohesion forces work and thus ensure durable adhesion. While adhesion describes the cohesion between the surface and the adhesive, cohesion denotes the inner strength of the adhesive - i.e. the cohesion of the molecules with each other in the hardened state. The adhesive manufacturer ensures cohesion. The user has direct influence on adhesion, i.e. the adhesion between adhesive and surface.
Keep it short and simple -4 tips for preparation
For an optimal adhesive result:
1. Crystal clear and so important that it is worth mentioning: the cleanliness of the adhesive surfaces is crucial.
2. Under no circumstances do products come from different manufacturers. Reason: The ingredients of an adhesive system are coordinated and thus ensure optimal curing and thus liability.
3. The ideal temperature range is between 15 and 21 ° C - up to ten degrees more is still tolerable. At less than five degrees, the critical area is in which the adhesive hardens only heavily or not completely. It must also be ensured that all adhesive surfaces have uniform temperature. So at low outside temperatures, drive the motorhome into the garage in good time and wait until the structure has heated up.
4. Another point is the air humidity - 60 to 70 percent are ideal. If it is too dry, you can help yourself with a spray bottle and repeatedly spray water lever into the ambient air around the glue. If you want to be on the safe side, set up a hygrometer.
Thanks to many years of experience, we bring our seals from Wamovo into play. Seal 441 is in no way inferior to his well -known competitors and are just waiting to sit between the chairs and joints soon.
